I've uploaded the a list of things you'll need for Lake St George on Monday. I'd also like to suggest that you bring either slippers of indoor running shoes for the cabins and don't forget to bring some quarters for the pay phone to call your parents!

This weekend

Hey everyone -- this weekend make sure you put some thought into your ads for your books and what techniques you're going to use to sell it. Remember it needs to be enticing. Sell the story, the message, the adventure...whatever it is that you can say to make it appealing. Simarly, don't forget to work on your oral presentation too. You might want to think about some things you can do to make your presentation stand out.

Geography Assignment

This is a reminder to both 7A and 7B that tomorrow during geography will be your only opportunity to work on your newspaper photographs in class.

If you're not planning on getting together with your partner outside of school, then I strongly suggest that you bring your props for tomorrow to stage your photographs for the fictional earthquake.

Remember you need to include:

• 3 photographs that portray strong emotions and show the effect of the earthquake
• Sketches of the proposed pictures
• And a written analysis of one of your pictures that analyzes the setting, the poses...etc. WHAT emotions are you trying to communicate to the viewer -- HOW are you achieving that?

Welcome Back!

Hi 7B,

I'd just like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to 2012! There are obviously a lot of things on the go as the term winds down so this is just a summary of what we have on the agenda:

Although our stories are finished and marks have been distributed (students, please share those with your parents) we're still going to be working on designing an advertisement and conducting an oral presentation to sell our books.

We're also starting our final drafts for our newspaper articles. TONIGHT, YOU NEED TO RESEARCH A NATURAL DISASTER OF YOUR CHOICE AND BRING IT IN TOMORROW FOR GEO AND LANGUAGE.

Hi 7B,

I hope you're all enjoying a much deserved break so far! This is just a friendly reminder that if you haven't completed your article on Pompeii, make sure that you have it done for January 9th.

A quick refresher: we started writing the article together on the volcanic eruption that destroyed Pompeii in 79AD. Your task is to complete the article based on the knowledge we've developed as to how volcanoes erupt and what causes them. Be sure you use your imagination and "interview" survivors. The Monday we're back, I'll be collecting them for feedback.

Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow (Wednesday) your stories are due! Please ensure that they're neatly illustrated and have been thoroughly edited.

I'd just like to stress that we remember what we've been focusing on: fiction is written with a purpose. Stories always have themes and messages that the author wants to communicate to the reader. Your theme and message need to be clear in your story.

At any rate, a "well done" goes out to all of you! I know that you've all put a lot of effort and work into your respective stories and I'm excited to read them!

Dear parents:

This past week, our focus in geography and language has been reading and writing news articles with a particular focus on the global environment and natural disasters. With Canada's recent decision to withdraw from the Kyoto Accord, this has provided us with an opportunity to engage in a discussion on our roles and responsibilities as stewards of the planet.

Please continue to encourage your son or daughter to read articles (in print or online) pertaining to the environment and to discuss its content with you.
